Cookie Policy
This Website Sets No Cookies
This website does not set cookies. It carries no advertising scripts, and nothing here follows you to other sites.
It does now count page views. That is described in full below, and you are asked before any of it happens — the first time you visit, a notice asks whether we may. Say no and the analytics script is never loaded at all.
An earlier version of this page said there was no notice here because there was nothing to consent to, and promised that this page would change first if that ever changed. This is that change.
Links that take you off this site — to the App Store, Google Play, Discord, Instagram, or our waitlist form — go to companies with their own practices. Once you land there, their cookies and their policies apply, not ours.
Analytics on This Website
If you allow it, we use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views on this website. It runs on this website only — the app does not have it, and no third-party analytics service runs anywhere in Blcksht.
The app collects its own usage data, separately and only if you agree to it — what you open, so we can tell what is worth showing people. That goes to our own database and never to Vercel or any other analytics company. It is described in full under How You Use the App.
It is cookieless. Vercel’s own documentation describes it as working “without using any third-party cookies”; visitors are identified instead by a hash Vercel generates from the incoming request, and that hash is discarded after 24 hours. It is not a profile, it cannot be used to recognise you on another website, and it is not tied to your IP address.
Each page view records:
- The page you visited, and the time
- The page you came from, if any
- Your rough location — country, region and city
- Your device type, operating system and browser
No names, no email addresses, nothing you typed, and nothing tied to an account — you do not have one on this website.
You are asked first. Until you answer, the analytics script is not loaded. If you decline, it is never loaded. We remember your answer so we do not have to ask again on every page; that is the one thing this website stores on your device, and it is covered below.
You can change your mind here, at any time. It takes one click, and it takes effect immediately — you should not have to go digging through browser settings to undo an answer you gave in one tap.
Your current choice is shown here once the page loads.
Changing this reloads the page so it takes effect straight away.
The App Does Not Use Cookies
Blcksht is a native app on iOS and Android, not a website in a wrapper. Cookies are a web-browser mechanism, and the app does not use them.
What the app does instead is keep a small amount of information in its own storage on your device. That is not a cookie: it never travels with a web request, no other app or website can read it, and it is removed with the app.
What the App Stores on Your Device
All of it is there so the app works the way you left it. In full:
- The city you selected, plus whether you picked it yourself and the timezone we last saw you in — so the app opens in the right city and knows when you have travelled.
- Whether you have already seen the intro, so you are not shown it again on every launch.
- Your signed-in session — the token that keeps you logged in, so you are not asked to sign in again every time you open the app.
- A short-lived copy of event listings you have already loaded, so the app opens quickly and does not re-fetch the same results.
This information stays on your device. It is not shared with anyone, sold, or used to track you.
On this website, separately, one thing is stored: your answer to the analytics question above. It records only allowed or declined, so we do not have to ask again on every page. Clearing your browser’s site data removes it, and you will simply be asked again.
What We Do Not Do
We do not use cookies or any equivalent technology for advertising, profiling, or cross-site tracking. Specifically, we do not:
- Set advertising or retargeting cookies
- Build advertising profiles about you
- Track you across other websites or apps
- Sell or share information with data brokers or ad networks
- Fingerprint your device to recognise you again later. The analytics hash described above is generated by Vercel from a single request, discarded after 24 hours, and cannot be used to identify you on any other site
Clearing What Is Stored
In the app. Signing out clears your session. Uninstalling Blcksht removes everything the app has stored on your device, including your selected city and any cached listings. On Android you can also use Settings → Apps → Blcksht → Storage → Clear data.
In your browser. Nothing of ours is stored there, but every browser lets you clear and block cookies and site data through its privacy settings if you want to.
Clearing device storage does not delete your account. To delete the account itself and the data held with it, see Delete Your Account.
Changes to This Cookie Policy
If we ever start using cookies, analytics, or similar technologies, we will update this page before doing so and change the effective date above.
