Data Retention Policy
The Short Version
We keep your personal information for as long as you have an account, and we delete it when you delete that account. Everything below is the detail.
Where this policy says we will do something rather than that we do it, that is deliberate — it means the commitment is real but is not yet automated, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise.
Your Account
Your profile — email address, username, age, how you identify, your Core Vibe, preferred times and profile photo — is kept for as long as your account exists.
When you delete your account it is removed, not archived and not flagged as inactive. Deletion runs as a single operation across every table that holds something of yours: your profile, your saved events, your itineraries, your share links, your curator records and your notification tokens. If any part of it fails, none of it is applied — so a deletion never half-finishes.
Deleting from inside the app is immediate. If you ask us by email instead, we complete it within 30 days of verifying the request. Both routes are described on our Account Deletion page.
What You Save
Favourites, itineraries and blocks are kept until you change them or delete your account. There is no expiry on them — an itinerary from last year stays until you remove it.
Blocking someone lasts until you unblock them. We do not expire a block for you, on the reasoning that we should not quietly undo a decision you made about who you want to see.
Usage Data
Usage data — what you open and tap in the app — is kept for 6 months and then deleted automatically. The weekly summaries we build for curators contain only combined totals and percentages, nothing about you individually, and are kept for 24 months. Deleting your account deletes your usage data straight away.
The app only records usage data if you agree to it. What it covers, and what curators can see, is described under “How You Use the App” in our Privacy Policy.
Reports About Content
When you report an event or a curator, that report is kept indefinitely. We do not put a clock on it. A report is a record about someone else’s content, and a pattern across months is often the thing that matters.
It does not stay tied to you, though. If you delete your account, the report survives with your identity removed from it — the finding remains, the link to you does not. That is built into how the record is stored, not a promise we remember to keep.
Events, Venues & Restaurants
These are listings about businesses and public events, not information about you.
We keep an event record after the event has happened, because your saved events and past itineraries point at it — deleting the record would erase your own history along with it. What we do not need to keep is the full raw response we received from whoever supplied it.
We strip that raw supplier data from events more than 90 days past. This runs automatically every day. The listing itself — title, venue, date — stays.
Business listings we have imported, including the Black-owned business records behind our restaurant coverage, are kept indefinitely. They describe businesses, and a listing that vanishes on a timer is a worse directory.
Temporary Copies
Some information is held briefly as a copy so the app does not have to ask for it again every time.
Details we fetch from Google about a restaurant are held for at most 30 days. After that they are not shown, and they are deleted automatically every day.
Your phone also keeps a small amount on the device itself — which city you picked, whether you have seen the intro, your signed-in session, and a short-lived copy of listings you have already loaded. That is covered in our Cookie Policy, and uninstalling the app clears all of it.
Technical Logs
Our hosting and database providers keep operational logs — records of requests and errors used to keep the service running and to investigate problems. How long those are held is set by our providers’ plans rather than by us.
We are not going to print a number here that we do not control. If you need to know the current retention period for a specific provider, ask us at info@blcksht.com and we will tell you what it is.
When We Keep Something Longer
We may keep information beyond the periods above where the law requires it, or where it is needed to resolve a dispute, enforce our terms, or deal with fraud, safety or abuse. Where that happens we keep only what is actually needed for that purpose, and only for as long as that purpose lasts.
Questions
Email info@blcksht.com and ask. If you want to know what we hold about you specifically, or want it deleted, the Account Deletion page is the fastest route.
